Your 44. caliber 1860 Colt is an Army Model, and NOT Navy which would be a .36 caliber Model of 1861.
Google search "1860 Colt Army" for current auction values from "Little John's Antique Arms", "Greg Martin Auctions", numerous antique arms sales sites, etc.
Your serial number off the top of my head is about the later half of 1861 but again, search for manufacture dates of the 1860 Colt Army. I owned a 4 screw frame of 7,260 serial mumber(Have been looking for it. I lost it after owning it for 25 years) as well as others.
Prices would be no less than $1,500.00 for an early good piece but can run over $20,000.00 for a "minty" one. The average price for NRA antique good to very good condition is around $3,500 - $6,000.00 with traces of blue and faded plum brown patina, traces of color case and good cylinder scene. The date of my writing this is 10 October 2009, so check on values often for they change like anything else.
I hope this helps,

The collector value can only be assessed by a visual inspection & evaluation. Old Winchesters are very much like old classic automobiles... the graded condition and factory originality are the key factors in determining what they are truly worth. As a side note, the serial number you mention is not possible... it should have a 6-digit numerical value. Bert H.
