Paratrooper models (takedowns) can go over a $1,000. Standard Type 38s and Type 99 (6.5mm & 7.7mm), depending upon condition, the MUM, and original military dress, will average $300 and up. Type 38s were built with more craftsmanship, but are very long rifles and are of the unpopular .25 caliber (6.5mm).

Type 99's are a far better caliber (.303/7.7mm), a more suitable shorter rifle, compared to the Type 38, but are clearly built more for war. Both models are stronger than Springfields, Enfields, or Mausers; as tested by Ackley and General Hatcher in the 1950s. Hatcher was an editor for the NRA in the 1930s.
