Vet confirmed pregnancy of your dog by palpating but now when an xray is taken no pups are seenwhat could be the reason?

If your vet palpated between the 28th day and 31st day, then most likely there were pups detected just by feeling. After the 31st day, however, the pups elongate and palpation is not accurate nor detectable. Sometimes after the 45th day the skulls can be detected but just because none are felt, doesn't mean there aren't any. Only the X-ray can detect and that is accurate usually after the 45th day when the skeletons are developing. The question is not what the X-rays showed, but WHEN were they taken?
