If you can't see the pictures after publishing the project, then the files were moved, changed, deleted prior to publishing. Never move, change or delete files until you have exported them to Standard viewing format (publishing/finishing them) first.And, always double check your export by viewing the entire video before altering the original source files used to create it.
avi files are actually already video files.
Download and install a Pavtube Video COnverter Ultimate.Once you have the converter downloaded and installed, open it and locate the camera recordings you wish to convert to .avi format. When the file(s) appear in the viewing pane, you will need to select an 'Output Format'. Make sure the output source you choose is .aviNext, click on the 'Output Path' and choose a destination to save the converted files.(Note: the desktop is the best place to save converted video. You can always move it late on).Click on Convert video. If the option is selected, you should see the actual video conversion process in the right-side viewing pane. If the conversion is successful, you will be able to import and edit the .avi clip in Windows Movie Maker.
These file extensions are not video files because they are in fact not a video. The files saved to .gif are animations. Most are of lower quality and are not much longer then a few seconds.

As long as the Windows Movie Maker video has been Published/Finished in the program first, it can be uploaded anywhere. So, make sure the video is published or finished (which mixes the audio/video properties into a Standard viewing format). Then hook your phone up to the computer and drag the video files over to the device.
