WHO OWNES THIS TRUCK
The title for a motor vehicle is issued by the state, not by the vehicle manufacturer. Talk to your state department of motor vehicles.
You need to get a salvaged title , talk to whatever city you are in to get a salvaged title. The State will give you a salvaged title. Soil can turn black due to excess water that causes poor drainages.
A 1919 Dodge truck with a title is just waht the description says it is. A lot of times when you come across antique vehicles they do not have a title & you have to do an investigation with the state and creat one - very expensive.
The title will state whether the vehicle was a police car or taxi.
WHO OWNES THIS TRUCK
Go to the location where the truck is, take the local police with you, and a tow truck.
Then ask him? If he transferred the truck title to someone else, it's no longer his title. If he's still making payments on the truck, then it's the financier who holds the title. If he put the truck up as collateral for something, then they're the ones with the title.
It depends on what the title is to. If it's a vehicle, the motor vehicle department, which records title information for vehicles licensed in the state, will have that information on file. A phone call should allow you to discover if the car or truck has a "clear title" or has had a lien placed on it.
You are required to submit a title transfer document and payment to the DMV in the state the vehicle is going to.
This depends on state law regarding lienholders, not bankruptcy law. Debts can be transferred (sold) to other creditors, but usually the title has to be endorsed to the new creditor and you have to get notice of the transfer. A creditor can seize a truck under a court order to satisfy a judgment, whether it is on the title or not. It is not a repo, however.
If two owners are listed on a title in NC, they are considered to be equal owners. Therefore both owners have the same control over the vehicle.
