It must be noted that Benazir Bhutto seriously under-estimated the strength of her political rivals, fundamentalist enemies and over-estimated the ability of General Pervez Musharraf to provide her with efficient and fool-proof security. Given the numerous opponents that she had within Pakistan, it was unwise of her to have attempted to stay in Pakistan and attend political gatherings where her personal security is bound to be difficult to guarantee. In fine, her poor judgment of the current pre-electoral political and security situation in Pakistan put her in the path of harm's way and eventually got her killed.
