He may not have been bad, but he did a lot of bad things. _____________________________________________________________________ I agree. Yet, Mussolini did something that no world leader had done before. He stopped Hitler from invading a country that he wanted to invade (Hitler's birthplace of Austria). At the time (1934, I think), the Italian Army dwarfed the German Army, and Hitler backed down. Later, Hitler acquired Austria and turned on Czechoslovakia (1938). In this case, Hitler and Mussolini played the good cop/bad cop routine, with Mussolini as the good cop. The Brits and French backed down. By WW2 Mussolini had been reduced to Hitler's junior partner, and that is how he is remembered today. Also, Mussolini did something else that has never been done before or since. He wiped out organized crime in Sicily because of a slight done to him by a Mafia don. When the Allies invaded Sicily in 1943, they turned loose all political prisoners of the Fascists, including the Mafiosos who were soon back in business. Postscript: One of Mussolini's granddaughters ran for a seat on the Italian Parliament on the Fascist Party ticket, and she won if I remember correctly.

· Arrogant - very full of himself

· Nationalist- because of his father

· He ruined Italy's fiscal system with his insistence upon Italian entry in WWII in support of Nazi Germany - they lost almost all the battles and the result was, messy economy, inflated money

· He insisted in being known as his excellency' , 'duce of fascism' or 'founder of the empire

· He imposed government control on industry, schools the press and the police.

· His demands exceed his capabilities

· He spread fascism all throughout Europe, and even aided places like Spain to aid the fascist cause

· Most importantly he dragged Italy into a war, (WWII) that they didn't need to go to, and weren't prepared for

· He got in trouble wherever Italy went to war, and had to be rescued numerous times by the German Army

· Reputation, Status, Prestige all these things were the only reasons why Mussolini dragged Italy into war, and that was a very irresponsible decision since he knew that Italy wasn't prepared

Because he was an Italian dictator who treated his country and citizens very badly. When he was killed, he was shot and then stoned. He was originally a Socialist, but then helped found the Fascist movement. in my opinion he was not a bad man and just wanted Italy to be a major world power again. you have to remember that he had fixed Italy's financial problems of the 1920's and people liked him hailed him as 'Il Duce' or the Leader. but after he met Hitler things went downhill.
