He has joked that some of his Scottish friends said he should be called the first laddie. They'd follow the example of the states here. The wife of a state's governor is also called the First Lady. States that have female governors officially call the governor's husband the First Gentleman. (In Washington State, Michael Gregoire likes to be called the First Mike.)
