In the civil war following Caesar's death she sided with Mark Antony and with his defeat she is supposed to have committed subside by being bitten by an asp. Cleopatra acctualy had blond hair not dark black. She was a very good queen to her people. Many people ask when Cleopatra was born. Well I have the answer for them. Cleopatra was actually born in the winter of 69 B.C. Cleopatra was born in an old temple in Alexandria, Egypt. Cleopatra was born in Alexandria because her father, Ptolemy, was there in a war with Alexander the Great. Her mother traveled to Alexandria so her father could see Cleopatra at birth. Later in 51 B.C Ptolemy Auletes, Pharaoh of Egypt, dies, leaving his kingdom to his 18-year-old daughter, Cleopatra, and her younger brother Ptolemy XIII. Pompey is in charge of Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII. Cleopatra ruled Egypt because when she got older her mother and father said since she is the older sibling she must rule Egypt. Unfortunately, she had to rule Egypt with her 11 year old brother and was forced to marry him. Soon she began to enjoy being queen and decided it wasn't so bad until her own colonist started to dislike her. Cleopatra was actually Cleopatra VII, and was the last pharaoh of Egypt. Another very important event that happened in Cleopatra's life was when she gave birth to her four children. She gave birth to her first child with Julius Caesar named Caesarion also named Ptolemy Caesar. . In 48 B.C. Cleopatra was removed from power by Theodotas and Achillas. Later that year, Caesar restores Cleopatra to the Egyptian throne. Later in 40 B.C Cleopatra gave birth to twins children with Mark Antony. The twin children were named Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene ll. Four years later, Cleopatra gave birth to another baby boy named Ptolemy Philadelphus. Mark Antony had already had four children with his previous wife Octavia so he already knew how to handle caring for the children. She was forced to flee Egypt and then found Mark Antony and lived with him in modern day Turkey. After Cleopatra met Mark Antony she returned to Egypt with him and Antony later divorced his wife, Octavia, to marry Cleopatra. After Mark Antony committed suicide, so did Cleopatra. The story is that she took an asp to her chest and let the poisonous snake bite her. Cleopatra is famous for many reasons including being the ruler of Egypt. She was the queen of Egypt. Her people liked her at first when she ruled happily not letting wars go too bad. She didn't let people die when she was queen. Cleopatra liked being queen so bad she promised herself she would be queen until the day she died. Then her daughter, Cleopatra Selene ll, would take over. Cleopatra is also famous for being one of the only female Pharaohs. And by being claimed as Egypt's last ruler she is also one of the very few who married her young brother as most people go for older siblings. Also, Cleopatra and her daughter, Cleopatra Selene II, kept Egypt from becoming nothing more than a Roman province. While Rome had a huge influence on Egypt thanks to there efforts the culture of Egypt did not get lost in that of Rome.
