No. When the Confederate government was forced from Richmond on April 2, 1865, they took trains from Richmond to Danville, and paused briefly there before traveling on to Greensboro NC. Some small amount of government business was conducted during this brief layover in Danville, but beyond this Danville had no claim to being the Confederate capital.
