There were rumours, which I remember, from the 1980's. These were likely juvenile conclusions due to her professional and personal friendship with Roch Hudson, who never came out as gay till the mid 80's when he had been diagnosed with HIV, and consequently, AIDS.
Beyond this wave of rumours, there appears to be little evidence to support the gossip.
It may be that she got close to a lady friend at some point in her life. But, just as playing a round of Golf doesn't make you a golfer, this doesn't, at all, mean she was actually a lesbian. And, again, no evidence. Just more 1980's gossip and rumours.
