YES. Elvis had signed the highest (monetary) contract to appear live in Las Vegas and to tour throughout the United States.
There was a huge demand as Elvis had been contractually obligated from 1960 until 1968 to star in motion pictures (i.e. movies) and Elvis' 1968 Singer TV Special was a huge success. Elvis appeared in a square shaped stage in the middle of a live audience dressed in black leather and did what he did best...sang from the heart and the audience bore witness to one of the greatest performances of all time.
Also, the quality of the songs Elvis was offered were excellence as opposed to the (many times) "movie songs" that Elvis recorded for his movie roles.
Elvis looked great - he was happy (i.e. his daughter was born on February 1 1968) - he surrounded himself with great musicians/backup singers/etc. - and he was excited.
1969 was one of the greatest years of Elvis' life and his popularity reflected these facts.
