I guess that depends on what you would consider a soul to be. In my opinion our souls are the energies within us that allow us to move our bodies (our bodies being made up of simple earthly materials). In that sense, I suppose you could say that the Frankenstein Monster did have a soul, otherwise how could he move around?

Dr. Frankenstein was an ordinary man of not exceptional abilities besides a clever mind.

The monster was unusually strong, needed very little to eat, very smart, had exceptional endurance and was unaffected by the cold.

Yes. But, I must first define "Monster" as some creature that is both un-natural and inhuman or sub-human or super-human. We can see in the creation of Dr. Frankenstein, a creature that posses supernatural (un-natural) traits in that it is recreated by a man from dead or decaying tissue. It seems, according to the original story and the movies that define it, to be immune to the cessation of thought driven animation - what we would describe as death. Thus, it survives in an un-natural state. It also appears to have no redeeming human morals. It easily reverts to violence, murdering several people, both deliberately and accidentally and seems to show little remorse. yet, it has also demonstrated some altruistic characteristics, such as when it saved the shepherd girl and demonstrated shock and remorse at drowning the little girl with the kitten. It also seems to have demonstrated some "feeling" for the son of Dr. Frankenstein in "Son of Frankenstein" when it plans to murder the little boy in revenge for Dr. Frankenstein murdering Ygor, the "Monster's" trusted friend. Yet, when the Monster had the chance to throw the little boy into the pit of boiling sulfur, he hesitates and also, when confronted by the Inspector, the Monster placed the little boy down, out of harm's way while being shot at by the Inspector. Thus, we can say, although it was indeed an inhuman creature, it did have some human feelings.

then we have to think of Dr. Frankenstein himself. he has some higher motivations for initiating the research that leads him to create the "Monster" from dead tissue. Yet, he is driven by his ambitions to violate some of humanities most sacred limitations. first, he is more than willing to desecrate graves, stealing corpses, dissecting human bodies illegally and working toward a goal of repeating the "God-like" act of making life. This is abject blasphemy. Yet, the Doctor is so blinded by his ambition, he is restrained by no level of moralistic values. Thus, mentally, we see him evolving into a sort of inner monster; a man who devolves his thought processes to justify any act, and allowing him to remove himself from all civilized rules of behavior. He easily accepts the basis for his actions, "The ends will justify the means." because he comes to believe he is bestowing immortality upon the human race. He feels completely justified by this much higher goal. This leads us to realize the Dr. himself is becoming an inhuman monster. Although, later in the stories, Dr. Frankenstein begins to realize the Horror of what he has done and what he has created, he shows regret and attempts to correct his mistake by trying to destroy the monster. But, as in most of the stories, he is too late and many people, including his own beloved family members are put at risk of their very lives by his horrible creation.

The Frankenstein stories lead us to recognize the folly of human kind as we reach for ever greater accomplishments in technology and science. We always seem to loose something valuable for every gain we make. Our lives, quite often, are not made easier or more peaceful by our creations. We created steam engines to improve our commerce and travel, and yet suffer the horrible pollution that invention brought. We developed the atom bomb to bring us peace, and all it brought us in the end was more fear and regret.

So, if there is a "Monster" in the story and films about Frankenstein, we can see the monster is certainly within. But, in the end, the monster is merely a reflection of ourselves.

He was a monster, in the sense that he was created by man and not by natural means. He was a monster because he killed and did bad things to people. He was doomed from birth because the doctor who created him, abandoned him and without a father to teach him how to live, the creature did what was necessary to survive. In many ways the real monster was Dr. Frankenstein and not his creation who had no real chance to live a normal life. In the book, it was not a "criminal brain" that doomed the creature (as in the Universal 1930s movie), it was being abandoned by his father/creator-Dr. Victor Frankenstein.

Not directly. Dr Frankenstein dies of exhaustion and exposure from chasing after the creature trying to kill it.

Are supernatural fprces real?

Some people say that supernatural powers do or don't exist. In actuality supernatural powers do exist. People like ghost hunters and priests who perform exorcists encounter supernatural powers or beings such as ghosts, demons, and angels. If you are part of Christianity or almost any other religion they speak of some god. In my case I am a Christian so I believe in God. I also believe in angels which are supernatural beings, as well as demons. So supernatural powers do exist, but I don't believe that you should mess with supernatural powers because they can be really dangerous.
