Yawist was a Jewish class, and spelling doesn't much matter, since they aren't using the same letters we do in English. That's why some people spell it Channukah and some Hannukah. In the same way, you'll see varying spellings for Koran/Quaran and so forth. When you're not using the same alphabet, the spellings are not uniform when moved to English. And English further dumbs down other languages by (for instance) dropping special characters, like the accented e in some French words.
Neither are English spellings uniform, from one flavor of English to another. For instance, color in the US is colour in the UK.
For that matter, not everyone agrees that God's name is Yahweh. Many say Jehova. Now, in Latin, that would start with an I, but that's an entirely different subject.
