During World War II, Greece briefly opposed both Italy and then Germany before being overcome in the spring of 1941. Great Britain supplied military aid, including ground and air forces, to Greece as it was being invaded by Germany but this was insufficient to prevent the country's fall. It was occupied by Axis forces until its liberation in 1945.
No. It was actually a neutral country. It actually remained neutral.
Allies
The war consisted of 3 sides axis, allies, and countries that were neutral(about 5 or less) the axis powers had Germany,Italy, japan,France and china which were both forced into the axis powers while the allies had America and the rest of the world(except the neutral countries.
Neutral nations included countries that did not fight on either side. In Europe, Switzerland was neutral. Spain was ostensibly neutral but aided the Axis (Germany). Ireland was neutral, its shipping being interdicted by both the Allies and Axis, but in many cases the Irish acted in concert with the Allies, as their own sovereignty was at risk. The Vatican was neutral and was occupied by neither side.
The French government split and the government in exile was on the Allied side while the Vichy government was on the axis side.
Switzerland was neither in the Axis or the Allies during World War 2. Switzerland wanted to stay completely neutral. And to stay neutral, they would shot any planes that belonged to the Allies and Axis Powers that flew over Switzerland,
Axis
Because the Axis don't like the Allies so they battled it out
Enemies of USA during WWII were Germany, Italy (for a small time) , and Japan (ALL AXIS) The Allies (USA's allies) were Great Britain, France, Poland, Italy (switched sides) , Greece, and Canada to name a few. Good thing I took that AP European History class!
They were on the allies.
Japan was an Axis power
The Axis are Germany, Italy, Japan, and their allies. The Allies are USA, Britain, France, and anyone who was not neutral and not with Hitler and the Nazis. A point of order: any country claiming neutrality would not be considered an Ally. Even when the United States was still considered 'isolationist', the government was instituting 'Cash & Carry' & 'Lend-Lease' programs. That isn't to say that Neutral countries weren't attacked or invaded (i.e. Norway, Holland & Belgium).
