Hades wasn't very well liked by most Greeks because he was the Lord of the Dead. The had many names for him like "Pluoton" (The Wealthy One) or "Zeus of the Underworld".
It definitely wasn't Zeus, he was the youngest of the three brothers, Poseidon was the middle child, and Hades was the eldest(oldest) of the three, but they all drew lots and that's how Zeus came to power. Poseidon was quite happy with the sea but Hades hated getting sent to the Underworld---however, it suited his brooding nature.

Persephone wasn't really MARRIED to Hades... She was abducted by Hades, but she hated the living crap out of him. In a way, I guess she was married to Hades, but not officially.
Greek god hades didn't really have allies everyone basically hated him but only his wife perspone was there for him

Gods have a tendency to marry other Gods, and when the only Gods are family.. you marry what is available. Persephone is incredibly beautiful, and Hades fell in love with her. At first she disliked him greatly, but I do believe after some time she came to love him.
