I'm really not sure if you chose the right queen to ask this question about ...since Anne of Cleves and Henry's marriage did not last very long... before it was annulled. He never meet Anne before he married her... he agreed to marry her after looking at her picture... and it said that after he met her that..."she looked like a horse"...(this part of my statement is debatable)

We must remember that Henry Vlll was a Tudor and known to be a very ruthless family.... and he was desperate for a heir... and while he had a son by the name of Edward -- he was a weak and sickly boy... So he also knew how important it was to have a spare heir...

Why did Catherine of argon got annulled?

Catherine of Aragon's marriage to Henry VIII was annulled primarily because Henry sought to marry Anne Boleyn, with whom he had fallen in love and hoped to have a male heir. Catherine had only provided him with a daughter, Mary, and Henry believed that their marriage was cursed due to biblical reasons, as Catherine had been his brother's widow. The Pope's refusal to annul the marriage, largely due to political pressures, led Henry to break from the Catholic Church and establish the Church of England, allowing him to annul the marriage himself.

How many of Henry VIII's wives were divorced?

Technically Henry's marriages were annulled, not divorced. In total, Henry annulled four of his marriages, including those to Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, the two wives he beheaded. Henry's first marriage, to Catherine of Aragon, was annulled as she was technically married to his brother Arthur before his death. Catherine always claimed the marriage wasn't consummated. Henry's second marriage, to Anne Boleyn, was also annulled, or dissolved, just a few days before her execution on charges of adultery, treason and incest. Henry's fourth marriage to Anne of Cleves, a German noblewoman, was annulled just a few months after it happened as it was never consummated. Anne of Cleves accepted the title of the Kind's Beloved Sister with the annulment. The fourth marriage that Henry had annulled was his fifth marriage, that to Catherine Howard. This marriage was annulled due to Howard's own admonitions of behaviour not fitting to that of a Queen of England, and she was executed a few months later.

Who was Anne of Cleves?

Answer Anne of Cleves was the fourth of the six wives of King Henry VIII of England. She was born in Dusseldorf, in what is now Germany on 22nd September 1515, Daughter of Duke John III of Cleves. The marriage to Henry VIII was an arranged marriage - Henry wished to produce more male children to ensure the succession of the monarchy after his death and his advisers wished to strengthen England's alliance with Germany. In 1538 the court painter, Hans Holbein was sent to Cleves to make a portrait of her and after seeing the portrait Henry agreed to the marriage but found her unattractive when they actually met. The marriage to Henry took place on 6th January 1540 and was annulled on 9th July 1540 on the grounds that she had already contracted to marry another European nobleman. Anne did not remarry, and remained in England until her death on 18th July 1557. Anne of Cleaves was born 22 September 1515-16 July 1557. She was a German noblewoman and the fourth wife of Henry VIII of England and as such she was Queen of England from 6 January 1540 to 9 July 1540. The marriage was never consummated, and she was not crowned queen consort. Following the annulment of their marriage, Anne was given a generous settlement by the King, and thereafter referred to as the King's Beloved Sister. She was King Henry's fourth wife.
