It's true that most people have their own theories as to the identity of Jack The Ripper, I believe it is pretty safe to say that the Ripper was a man. Women do kill, and there are most definitely female serial killers. But they don't kill like Jack The Ripper. These crimes were committed by a male, most likely under 30 years of age when the crimes began. White, with a social class at least slightly higher than his victims. This was a man that had a great amount of anger and contempt toward women. He would have looked like a regular person, maybe even non-descript, and he would have been able to blend into the east end of London, Whitechapel and Spitalfields. And one thing is for sure, he knew the area. That does not mean he was a resident, but he knew the many streets and alleyways of Whitechapel. A woman roaming the streets with blood all over her clothes would have raised some eyebrows. On the other hand, the east end was full of butchers and furriers not to mention, some doctors, where blood on their clothes was a sign of success. This all points to a male killer. The Jill The Ripper theory makes no sense at all.

It could have been either as the ripper was not apprehended by the policedespite that almost all of the suspects were men. This is my answer to your question!

it is most likley that the ripper was a boy because the theory of Jill the Ripper -- sometimes known as the mad midwife is very unreliable even though there are several points which add to the theory of him being a girl. First, the fact that all of London was looking for Jack the Ripper (i.e. a man) this would allow a female murderer to walk the streets of Whitechapel with considerably less, or no fear of capture or discovery. Second, a midwife would be perfectly common to be seen at all hours of the night. Third, any presence of blood on her clothing would be immediately discarded as a result of her work. Finally, based on the evidence pointing to a doctor or a person who knows the female anatomy, a midwife would have known this knowledge but even with all these factors some believed that "she!" was a murderer possessed.

//The theories of a 'Jill The Ripper' are ridiculous. For students of true crime, the Ripper's murders were obviously committed by a male perpetrator. These crimes were sexual in nature, a heterosexual male most likely. Of course there are no shortage of female serial killers, but they kill differently from their male counterparts, and are driven by completly different motivations. Even though Aileen Wuornos was not typical of a female serial killer in her methods or MO, she was motivated by gain which is not untypical for female killers. Early on, police suspected a female, the crime scenes revealed as such. Wuornos's crimes were not about sex at all. They were about material gain. The victims were killed for the contents of their wallets and their cars, since that is what Wuornos needed at the time.

Had Jack The Ripper been a female, the crime scenes would have differed greatly. From the murder weapon to the mutilations and beyond, these crimes were carried out by a man, there is no doubt about that fact.

Jack the Ripper was guilty of a lot of things but being a woman was not one of them.

Mrs. Long saw a man from behind, who was speaking with Annie Chapman only minutes before she was killed; the man was unquestionably her murderer.

Likewise, George Hutchinson got a very good look at the man seen escorting Mary Kelly to her home and he followed them. He was standing outside of the house near the time of the killing, so Mr. Hutchinson is the witness that most likely saw the face of Jack the Ripper.

The Whitechapel murderer was unquestionably male.

Nobody will ever really know.In the series Black Butler Ciel Phantomive's aunt and her servant were known to be Jack the Ripper.(Wasnt real though.)I think it could have been a woman. She was probably jealous of what the 5 victims had in common.Or it could have been a man,who was selling organs,or just trying to rape woman and kill them so they wouldn't reveal his identity. We honestly, probably wont ever really know who the Notorious Jack The Ripper was.It will probably remain a mystery forever,or we just might find out who he soon enough.

nothing about his or her identity has been discovered. some experts also believe that the murders could have been committed by a group, but like other facts, that has yet to be proven.
