No one knows when Jesus was actually born. We celebrate His birth on December 25th, but that's more than likely because that's the day of the winter solstice. It probably wasn't even winter when He was born b/c of some of the details told in the Biblical story hint at warmer weather.

Christmas was originally a pagan tradition called Winter's Solstice. Christians were losing the battle of domination against paganism, so rather than banishing most of the pagan traditions, they just changed the name of the traditions and adopted them for themselves. Winter's Solstice was renamed Christ's Mass and nowadays presumed by many to be Jesus's actual birthdate, when in fact the birthdate isn't written anywhere.
