Julius Caesar went to see a fortune teller who said "Beware the Ides of March." Also, the night before the murder, Julius's wife had a nightmare of his murder in the Senate office the next day and begged him not to go.
According to two ancient historians, Plutarch and Suetonius, Caesar had been previously warned by a haruspex (a special kind of priest who would kill an animal, and then look at the animal's guts to predict the future) that something bad would happen to him by the Ides of March. The ancient Romans were fairly superstitious, and usually took such predictions seriously.
Plutarch notes that as Caesar walked to meet the Senate on the Ides of March, he saw the haruspex on the street and joked that it was the Ides of March, as if to say that the haruspex's prediction was wrong. The haruspex noted that the Ides wasn't over yet.
A short time later, Caesar was dead.
It should be noted, however, that both Plutarch and Suetonius wrote their histories about 150-200 years after Julius Caesar's assassination. So it's unlikely that the harupex story is accurate, if it even happened at all!
Reportedly, the wife of Julius Caesar, Calpurnia, warned Caesar not to go to the Senate as she had a premonition about his assassination. This has not been documented, but has been stated as possibility by more than one historian.
