I believe not because many believed she was molested and brutally abused so maybe she posed as a threat killed her parents and posed as if she was mentally insane. So she would not be convicted and I would just like to state I'm 12

At the time of her trial it was never mentioned that Lizzie was suffering from any type of mental illness. But there were problems with Lizzie's behaviour prior to the double homicides in August 1892. It was a well-known secret that Lizzie had "sticky fingers". To the merchants of Fall River it was always wise to keep a close eye on Miss Borden. When her theivery was discovered the shop owner would call Andrew Borden. He would quietly pay for anything Lizzie lifted and the matter was kept quiet, or as quiet as possible. It is obvious that Lizzie lacked for nothing, Andrew being a wealthy businessman, but Lizzie was compelled to steal.

It has been speculated that perhaps Lizzie suffered from bi-polar personality. This may or may not have been true. It is difficult to analyze a person over a century after their demise. Where the root of her kleptomainia came from can only be guessed at. But in general, it seems obvious that Borden did not suffer from a dibilitating mental disorder.
