Well, he had his heart in the right place where it concerns to the French people. He wanted nothing but the best for them, but he was a weak King. He couldn't make up his mind where it concerned big decisions, constantly changing his mind, and he wasn't strong when it is important not only for a King, but also for a kingdom to have a strong leader.

King Louis XIV or the sun king was the king to bring the nobles together. He built the palace of versaille so that he could keep the nobles under his eye. However he left a huge debt which eventually caused the French Revolution because Louis XVI was weak and held a bad economy

Good is a relative term, so the question depends on perspective.

In terms of maintaining power, centralizing authority, building the msot powerful military, developing infrastrucuture, fomenting culture, Louis XIV was a great king. In terms of promoting equality, protecting minorities and women, bringing peace and prosperity to the people, and success in foreign relations, Louis XIV was less capable (and he desired to be so).
