under his government, not too sure how much was actually down to him of course, but simplified traditional Chinese (im guessing that means mandarin) to or through pinyin and education was improved hugely. Also stopped footbinding and generally made women much more equal than before, i think they could own land ask, for divorces ect.

On top of that, did increase producivity (reguardless of the fact it couldve been done alot better)

overall however his negative far out weigh his good.

Yes he killed millions of people by forcing insane untested agricultural methods upon the Chinese people along with killing off large numbers of intellectuals, political opponents and anyone who criticized him. He is up there with other evil genocidal leaders like Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, etc.

You can't say for sure. Many people may not like him but you can't say he was. After all he did what he though was best for China.
