Best Answer
A:Mark's Gospel was the shortest of the New Testament gospels. In fact it was once shorter than it is now, before the 'Long Ending' (verses 16:9-20) was added later in the second century. As is typical when a new book is based on an older story, the later gospels (Matthew, Luke and John) contain additions and elaborations and are therefore longer.
