Mars is the Roman God of War and Ares is the Greek God of War and Bloodshed. Though they differ in name, they are just the same God of war and only differs to what the Romans and Greeks believe in.
Ares is the God of War for the Greeks where Mars is the same except for the Romans. The difference here is that Mars was more revered by the Romans, and Ares was more hated. Ares was the God of War, Murder, and Bloodshed. Mars was the God of War, Agriculture, and (I think) food. What I am trying to get at was that Mars is seen as a God of Life, while Ares is seen as a god of death. The Roman soldiers prayed to Mars to support them in battle and what not. Hope this helps!
Venus (Aphrodite) was married to Vulcan ( ? ), god of smiths and fire. But she dated more with the War God, Mars (Ares).
