This question keeps popping up anytime the Ripper's murders are discussed or debated. I have studied the Ripper for quite a while and there has never been any evidence that Kelly was pregnant. Maybe because she was the youngest and by most accounts, the most attractive.
The fact was Mary Kelly had a bad case of syphillis and in fact only months before her murder, she spent time in a sanitariam for treatment. It would not be impossible, but it may have made it more difficult to get pregnant. It would have been helpful if most of the autopsy notes were still in the case file, but its an old crime and there have been two world wars with extensive bombings, so it's no surprise that there are holes in the evidence. The people in her immediate world were interviewed quite extensively after her murder and nobody ever indicated that she was pregnant.
So this qualifies as just another unfounded rumor in a case where there was always more speculation than fact.
It is unclear whether the TMZ researcher Kelly Berning is pregnant or not. However, she is indeed married at this time.
because she was pregnant
Danforth gives her time to live after she's accused of murder because she says she's pregnant
Mary Jane Kelly, at the time of her murder was living in London's poverty-striken east end. Until right before her murder she was living with a man named Barnett. They had recently had a 'falling out'. It seems Mary Kelly was 'entertaining' a woman in their bed and Barnett found out. But he had not cut her off completely, and in fact had checked in on her just hours before she was killed. The Ripper mutilated Kelly so badly that when Barnett was asked to ID the body, he could only tell it was her by the color of her hair and eyes, or what was left of them. Although it is a popular misconception that Kelly was the Ripper's last victim, the Ripper kept ripping for many more years.
James Kelly has recently surfaced as a Ripper suspect. Unfortuneatly, when suspects are investigated for these crimes the person investigating relies on previous inaccuracies which in turn makes for faulty conclusions. James Kelly is one such suspect. Jack The Ripper's crimes did not stop after the murder of Mary Kelly in November 1888, and in all likelyhood Mary Ann Nichols was not the first victim. The detectives that worked the case were well aware of these facts. As time goes on many of these inaccuracies are taken as fact making the truth that much harder to discern.
Unknown but unlikely because she was moral.
He didn't. Jack The Ripper's crimes continued long after the murder of Mary Jane Kelly on November 9, 1888. Many believe the Ripper was still killing as late as 1891, and possibly after the turn of the 20th century.
I thought I was the only one who remembered, that she was pregnant...during the time she dated K.C.
The man's name was Joseph. He is recognized in Christian tradition as the husband of Mary and the earthly father of Jesus.
Elisabeth, Mary's cousin, conceived 6 months before Mary. She was barren and she and her husband, Zacharias had a son, John, when she was also past child bearing years.Mary left to stay with Elisabeth when she became pregnant.
Mary Kelly remains somewhat of an enigma. Younger and by most accounts better looking than other Ripper victims, some doubt that she was killed by Jack The Ripper but fell prey to the violence of the east end.Kelly had been sharing a small rented room with her man named Joseph Barnett just prior to her death. Although they seemed to get along by people that knew them, they had a serious rift about a woman friend of Kelly's. Barnett caught them in a compromising situation (in the bed he shared with Kelly). Barnett left, but the two continued to stay in touch and Barnett, good man that he was, helped Kelly with money when he could. At the time of her murder, Mary Kelly was weeks behind on her rent and had no new prospects for a provider. Life in the 19th century could be brutal for a woman without a man. Kelly was forced into the street every night to earn a sparce living any way she could. Jobs were in short supply in Whitechapel, which left only one way for Kelly to earn her rent money. It probably didn't help that Kelly was a drinker, and had most likely been drinking on the night of her death. Mary Kelly's life seemed to be in a slow decline. She didn't hit absolute bottom because she instead met Jack The Ripper.
In the Bible, Mary was brought to her uncle's house by an angel who informed her that her cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant at the time, would have a son named John the Baptist.
