The church was completed in 1820 with one tower and a second tower was added in 1831. The second one collapsed within 2 years and rebuilt in 1833. It is a beautiful church and today is part of the California historical property 21 mission system. Services are still held there and people can visit or take tours.

As far as I can tell there is a Mare's restaraunt in Santa Barbara CA and this is the only reference to SB mare I have ever come across.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Santa Barbara County was 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius), which occurred on September 6, 2020. This extreme heat event was part of a broader heatwave affecting much of California. The record highlights the increasing frequency of high-temperature events in the region due to climate change.
Yes. The state parks/Catholic church are constantly working on the missions. They are still in use as churches as well as historical sites and take a great deal of work to keep them in repair. Most are built with adobe brick which after a 100 or so years has a tendency to crumble.
