Yes, Hitler sent troops to Poland to take control of it and he succeded thousands of Jews were killed by this action and this lead to the holacust.

Indeed, the Nazi German invasion of Poland in September of 1939 signalled the outbreak of World War II. The following day, Great Britain declared war on Germany, as per its defense treaty with Poland. Poland was completely overrun within three weeks.

The Holocaust was the carefully planned and orchestrated genocide of European Jews and other nationalities ( 6 million in total ), and not the result of killing of several thousand Jews.

regularly. After the Germans were evicted in 1945, the Russians grabbed what they wanted with minimal protest from the Western powers. Only in 1980's did Poland get a true measure of independence again. That is why they were keen to join the EU - make sure the Russians are kept at arms' length, and use the EU bureaucracy to annoy the Germans at every opportunity (with the UK as a best friend in THAT endeavour!)

German forces invaded Poland in 1939.

This is what brought Great Britain into the war. The British demand that Germany undertake to leave Poland was ignored so Britain declared war on Germany in September of 1939.

The German occupation of Poland continued for most of the war that followed.
