As a military leader, Ramses II (the third pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty) restored Egyptian land and also battled against the Hittites and the Libyans. He has come to be known for his military campaigns, though his reputation took a hit when he was almost captured during a battle in the fifth year of his reign.
Ramses was a king. All kings were worshiped by the people, that was their role. Ramses was said to have been a good militant and a leader. He helped to construct the pyramids apparently.

As an arab christian from Egypt I admire his secular-non-sectarian arab nationalism and my father and uncles who lived under his rule told me he was the greatest egyptian leader since pharao ramses ;)
bad
Ramses II was a master of propaganda and a mediocre military leader. At the Battle of Kadesh Ramses made the worlds first peace treaty with the Hittite Empire. Upon the return the Egypt Ramses claimed that he was victorious. However, the Hittite Empire was able to maintain Kadesh and it is speculated that Ramses actually lost territory after the battle of Kadesh.
The pharaohs were very powerful in Ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun, Ramses, Ramses II and many others were very powerful and dominant pharaohs. Although Tutankhamun was only 19 when he died, after being placed on the throne at age 9, he was a very good ruler.
