I believe so. I believe that Francis Scott Key wrote the words to the already popular melody after some of their men were kidnapped. I believe he was out on the water (maybe trying to rescue the kidnapped, I'm not sure) and after hours and hours of bombing, through the smoke he saw the American flag still standing there.
"And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there."
The "Star Spangled Banner", was written about the War of 1812.
War of 1812. :)

The War of 1812 is the war you seek.

no the War of 1812
It wasn't really written in a war, but it was written about one. The War of 1812
I assume you mean to say, "What war was the Star Spangled Banner written in?" If so, it was in 1814, during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key wrote it after the bombardment of Fort McHenry.
During the War of 1812.
The star spangled banner was also called the Great Garrison flag. The star spangled banner was the garrison flag that flew over the Baltimore harbor at Fort McHenry during part of the War of 1812.
