Knights of Labor
The Knights of Labor was a significant labor union that welcomed workers from various trades and industries, regardless of their skill level or occupation. This question needs to be rewritten. I can think of union terms for "open/closed" shops, but I am not sure this is what you want.
Labor unions are against open shops, because an open shop is a place of employment that has voted to be represented by a union, but membership in the union is not required. Without every worker belonging to the union it is harder to negotiate with the employer. See related link below for definition of an open shop.

According to Webster, the term Open Shop appeared in 1903. It pertains to a place of business in which it is not part of the contract that a worker has to join a union. In fact, in most Open Shops, there are few workers who join unions but the owner may allow a union to hold an election of the employees and if they agree, a union may represent the workers in negotiation with management. Open Shop is different from a Closed Shop. In a closed job, any person wishing to work in that business establishment must either be a member of the Union or join the union once employeed.
