No. Raymond Wallace Bulcao ka Ray Bolger [January 10, 1904-January 15, 1987] originally was scheduled to play the Tin Woodman in the 1939 film version of The Wizard of Oz. He managed to switch parts with Christian Rudolph ka Buddy Ebsen , Jr. [April 2, 1908-July 6, 2003], who originally was scheduled to play the Scarecrow. Ebsen ended up having a serious reaction to the toxic aluminum powder in the make-up for the part of the Tin Woodman. He had to be hospitalized, from the irritation to his skin, and because of the coating of his lungs with the inhaled particles. Ultimately, he recovered, and outlived many from the original film cast of The Wizard of Oz. Even though Ebsen had done nine days' worth of filming before his hospitalization, he lost the role to John Joseph ka Jack Haley, Jr. [August 10, 1898-June 6, 1979]. So Ebsen's involvement with the film ended with his hospitalization. And all of the scenes in which he had been filmed were redone with Haley.
