No- his real name was Elesius Williams and he was one of Wales's greatest 19th Century poets. Eifion Wyn was his Bardic name which he chose after winning the Bardic Chair for Poetry, which he did at Wales's International Eisteddfod several times.
For most of his life he was a schoolmaster, although the last 30 years of his life were spent as a clerk and accountant in the offices of the North Wales Slate Co.
He was born at Porthmadoc in 1867, and died in 1926 at the age of only 59. He lies buried in his native region of Eifionydd, in Chwilog Cemetery.
