There was no rationing during the war. Anything and everything was available in the US.
No, nothing even close to the rationing of WWII. America in the 1960s/70s was a highly sophisticated and technologically advanced society...another words every body had a car (and plenty of gasoline too! (at 19 cents a gallon) The US was a on a "cold war" footing, with arms and ammunition makers putting out billions of rounds (cartridges) monthly/annually. Since the cold war ended in 1990, nearly 2/3rds of those ammunition makers have closed shop. Except for the military draft and coffins landing at airports, you'd never have known about Vietnam.

During the war they were called provinces; they'd be outlined on a map, if you obtain one.
Strategy (over all plan to obtain objective); attrition. Tactics (methods used to obtain objective); search and destroy.
Fear that the North Vietnamese would obtain nuclear weapons themselves (from Russia or China) and use them on South Vietnam or even on America.

Convicted felons are able to obtain Vietnam passports under most circumstances. If a country requires only a passport for admittance, gaining entry as a tourist is normally not a problem with some exceptions. Obtaining a visa, however, can be more difficult.
