yes indeed Howard hughes was mentally ill he always had (OCD) as a child which eventually led to his downfall he resided in his screening room in California for more than 4 months never leaving he subsisted exclusively on chocolate bars and milk relieved himself in the empty bottles and containers he was surrounded by dozens of kleenex boxes which he stacked and rearranged he gave instructions to his aids stating that not to look at him respond only when spoken to but otherwise don't speak to him he sat fixated in his chair naked watching movies reel after reel day after day when he emerged in the spring of 1948 his hygiene was terrible he had not bathed cut his nails for weeks once one of the most visible men in America, Hughes ultimately vanished form public view.
