The Sheffield flood occurred on March 11, 1864, when the Dale Dyke Dam, located near Sheffield in the United Kingdom, failed. Heavy rainfall caused the dam to overflow, resulting in its collapse and the release of around 650 million gallons of water. The flood devastated the town of Sheffield, causing widespread destruction and loss of life.
