Medea, daughter of King Aeetes
The sorceress Medea, daughter of Aeetes, the King of Colchis, who was the fleece's owner.
The king of Colchis, Aeetes, was initially suspicious of Jason's arrival. To test Jason's worthiness to marry his daughter, Medea, Aeetes demanded that he yoke fire-breathing bulls and sow dragon's teeth. These trials were meant to be impossible tasks to prove Jason's valor and determination.
When Jason set out on his search for the Golden Fleece, a task set by Aeetes, King of Colchis and father of Medea, she fell in love with him and aided him in his quest. She fled with him after he has obtained the fleece. Aeetes pursued them and Medea delayed him by strewing the limbs of her brother Absyrtus on the sea.
