Davinci painted... "The Mona Lisa".
The Mona Lisa painting does seem to resemble some other self portraits Leonardo made, but is more widely believed to be the portrait of a Florentine citizen's young third wife, Lisa Gherardini Giocondo. There is no historical proof of the subject's identity, however, so the theory remains that the Mona Lisa was a feminized portrait of himself. This is unproven.

No, the 'Mona Lisa' is a painting done by Leonardo da Vinci during the Italian Renaissance, painted about 1503-1505. Vincent van Gogh was an artist active in France during the French Impressionist period, circa late 1800's. There has been speculation that the 'Mona Lisa' is a self-portrait of sorts of Leonardo himself, but no evidence exists to prove this theory.
Da Vinci painted the portrait between 1504 to 1519. The woman who sat for it was Lisa Gherardini and it was requested by her husband. Da Vinci kept the painting with him and when he died in the French court it was with him. Art historians have debated about the painting and there has been theories that it was a self portrait of da Vinci.
Most of Leonardo's pictures were self-potraits or pictures that might have hidden a self-portrait. Although the Mona Lisa was his well-known masterpiece, his other drawings and works were said to predict an apocolyptic flood and other natural disasters.
Originally Fernando Botero didn't set himself to paint a young Mona Lisa. He had painted a Colombian girl (aged 12). While he was living in New York City in the early sixties, the woman that cleaned Botero's apartment saw the painting and told him that it resembled the Mona Lisa. Botero picked-up on that comment, modified the painting and renamed it, Mona Lisa, age 12
A number of scholars have concluded that Leonardo da Vinci began work on the portrait of Mona Lisa in Florence, Italy, in 1503 and worked on it until 1505 or 1506, finishing when he was in Rome or Milan.AnswerThe Mona Lisa is a famous 16th-century portrait by Leonardo da Vinci. The Mona Lisa's mysterious smile has beguiled generations of viewers, but the true identity of the woman pictured in the portrait remains unknown, despite intensive research by art historians. Many believe the Mona Lisa to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini Giocondo, the wife of a wealthy Florentine merchant, Francesco del Giocondo. (Thus the Mona Lisa is known in Italy as La Gioconda.) Others suggest the subject was a mistress of da Vinci, or even a self-portrait, with da Vinci imagining himself as a woman. It is known that Leonardo began the portrait in Florence in 1503, continued work on it through 1506, and then kept the painting until his death in 1519. Over the next three centuries the Mona Lisa passed through many hands, even hanging for a time in the bedroom of Napoleon, but since 1804 its home has been the Louvre Museum in Paris. Leonardo's painting is famous among artists for its innovative techniques, including sfumato (shown in the painting's distinctive hazy, soft-focus effect) and chiaroscuro (use of light and shadow).Leonardo DaVinci's House
