Rabbits are not an invention, they are live animals, therefore they are either the result of evolution or the creation of God, depending on your particular belief system.
God made rabbits.
Yes. Many people do raise rabbits just for that purpose. Rabbit meat is actually VERY healthy for you. It's one of the most healthy meats there is because it doesn't have much fat, no cholesterol, and the meat has a lot of protein.
The dewlap is found mainly on female rabbits, although, in certain breeds, the males are also allowed a small one. Its purpose is to provide another area for the doe to pull fur from when she is making her nest for her kits.
Besides hearing the rabbits use their ears for cooling. They do not sweat or pant to cool themselves (if you see a rabbit panting it is because he is already overheated and suffering from heat prostration). Blood circulates thru the large veins in the rabbits ear, and it cools as it does in the air.
No, cottontail rabbits do not live in the desert. The desert does not support the lifestyle of the cottontail rabbit.

Yes they will be fine
Rabbits are herbivores, therefore do not eat anything that is alive. If they do eat anything that is alive, it is by accident, and would probably be a worm or a greenfly or something like that. Good question though.
Terrier dogs were bred to control mice, rabbits, foxes and badgers.
Only if they have not been in an accident or suffer from a deformity. They are usually situated at each corner of the rabbit
Don't keep rabbits and guinea pigs together. Rabbits can break guinea pig's spines easily (we assume by accident, but those wascally wabbits...), killing them.

The rabies vaccine was developed by Louis Pasteur in 1885, derived from the nerve tissue of infected rabbits
Depends on the weather. Alot of breeders avoid mating rabbits in warmer seasons due to stress on the rabbits and how hard it is to keep them cool. There are some breeders who will breed in these months though as they are either better equipped to handle heat (such as an Air-conditioned rabbit shed) or some just mate by accident and end up with litters LOL!
What is your purpose? Upland birds, rabbits, squirrels, skeet, etc..
