Saladin destroyed Christian Crusader forces in Jerusalem ~Iridian(:
Saladin lead the Muslim armies against the Crusader Forces in the earlier Crusades. He also founded the Ayyubite Caliphate in the Levant Region. These events occurred in the mid-to-late 1100s.
Saladin was the primary leader of the multinational Muslim force that opposed the crusaders. He is considered a military genius who helped ensure the eventual Arab victory, although he died before the Crusader kingdom was destroyed.
Well they all were important within their own right. The First three were the most famous though. The First Crusade ended with European crusaders retaking Jerusalem. In the Second, Saladin took Jerusalem from the Crusader king, Guy of Lusignan. The Third, and probably the most famous, would be the war between Saladin and Richard the Lionheart of England which ended with a stalemate. Many more came after, but the Third was considered the last major push against the Crusader cause.
Europeans viewed Saladin as a formidable and noble adversary during the Crusades. His reputation for chivalry and fairness, particularly in his treatment of prisoners and non-combatants, earned him respect even among his enemies. Saladin was often seen as a unifying figure for the Muslim forces, contrasting with the fragmented nature of European Crusader states. His successful defense of Jerusalem in 1187 solidified his status as a legendary leader in both the Muslim and Christian worlds.
''For the time being, the crusaders had won. They set up Crusader ''states'' in the areas surrounding Jerusalem. But the Muslims were determined to regain their holy places. In 1187, a Muslim ruler and a general names Saladin launched a successfully attack on the Crusader states and recaptured Jerusalem. European kings quickly sent out a Second Crusade, the a Third until finally after the Fourth Crusade fails signed an agreement with Muslim rulers to abandon any further crusades against Jerusalem.''
No. Saladin was Moslem.
