∙ 9y agoTechnically Yes. World War I ended in 1919 and Israel was founded in 1948. However, Israel was NOT established as a direct result of World War I. It would require the events of World War II and the Holocaust to make clear the need for Israel and allow for its establishment with UNGA Resolution 181 (II).

∙ 8y agoUNGA Resolution 181 (II), passed on November 29, 1947, provided permission for the different ethno-religious groups in Mandatory Palestine to declare a state. The Jews in Mandatory Palestine acted on the permission granted to them by UN Resolution 181 by declaring independence on May 14, 1948 (nearly six months after the Resolution was passed) and therefore creating the State of Israel. In the ensuing war with Palestinian Militias and the Armies of other Arab countries, Israel managed to survive and created effective borders by April of 1949.
