Did the Archaeopteryx have a skull of a bird?

Within the field of evolutionary Biology, archaeopteryx is considered the "missing link" between dinosaurs and birds in the evolutionary process. Although it is widely held to be true, there may still be other undiscovered fossils that yield an even closer link between dinosaurs and birds.

Archaeopteryx is considered the most primitive bird. It is, however, an intermediary form and can therefore be classified as both a dinosaur and a bird since its features are characteristic of both types of animal. It has more in common with dinosaurs known as theropods, than it does with modern birds.

Hard to say. It lacked a crested sternum, which means it couldn't have had the powerful wing muscles of modern birds. Still, maybe it could flutter from tree to tree, or even glide some distance.

The Archaeopteryx skull was more like a reptile than a bird in structure. It's reptilian characterists included: A number of openings in the skull, seen in therapod dinosaurs and not birds. A heavy but short quadratic bone inclined forward as in reptiles. A bend in the jawbones behind the tooth row which is found in reptiles but not in birds. A thin straight jugal bone as in reptiles. A preorbital bar separating the anteorbital fenestra and the eye socket. A brain structure with elongated and slender cerebral hemispheres which do not overlap the midbrain. In birds, the cerebral hemispheres are heavy and extend over top of the midbrain.

No. The archaeopteryx had a lot of dinosaur-like characteristics. It also had bones in its tail, claws, and teeth. Birds today don't have those things.
