it wasn't a complete disaster as the German's numbers were significantly diminished and even though it was a black day for the British army the German's also lost allot of men and materials. overall, even though it wasn't a complete disaster it was pretty bad as 20, 000 men died and another 40, 000were either taken prisoner or too injured to go into service the next day.
