The de Havilland Mosquito was a high-speed, twin-engine, multi-role aeroplane used during world war two by the RAF and other Commonwealth air forces.

Although originally conceived as an unarmed bomber, the first Mosquitos off the production line were photo reconnaissance aircraft and it quickly proved to be the best PR aircraft of the war. But the Mosquito also served as a bomber, a fighter, a fighter-bomber, a ground attack, etc. It excelled in every role in which it was used and was probably the most versatile aircraft of the war.
