yes there was a Whiskey au go go in Sydney
When the club opened I was one of two car parking attendants. Due to me being an American, the owner John Harrigan made me the Maitre D a couple of weeks after the club opened. John's mother was the cashier behind the bar. At the time there were so few Yanks living in Australia I was considered unique. To the point of the radio d j's mentioning me on their shows. The opening act was Bobby Day of Rockin' Robin fame who performed there for a few months. The lead go go dancer was Bambi (Joanne Neville) who also appeared in the Sydney version of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.
