The answer is yes. I don't know when it was constructed but in the 1950s I stayed in the Great Northern Hotel on the north side of 54th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues. Just to correct this answer. The hotel main entrance was on 56th Steet between 6th and 7th Aves. There was a rear Entrance on 57th Street. I lived in the hotel from September 1953 until January 1954. I was a student at St. Thomas Church Choir School and while a new dormitory was being built the Choir resided in the hotel.
