There are two that i know of and I don't know which one you are referring to so I will describe them both. The first is the mother of Jesus and the other is Mary Magdalene, one the women who came the see Jesus' tomb and found an angel, and was at the cross when Jesus died.Actually, this is a quite difficult question to answer and is still being debated among biblical scholars today. There are several possibilities. Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary the wife of Cleophas, Mary the mother of James and Joses. There are many reasons why one can say that the Mary at the tomb with Mary Magdalene was not the mother of Jesus. Then again she may well have been. Apparently, Mary Magdalene and the mother of Jesus were in view of the cross during the crucifixion. The gospels of Matthew and Luke are widely believed to have been taken from the earlier writings of Mark. The difficulty lies in the Gospel of John which obviously has a different source of information. Hence the differing accounts of the events. We may not know who was there until we get to heaven.
Mary and Martha were the sisters of Lazarus and all resided together in Bethany. Jesus was a friend of the family. It was during one of these visits that Martha complained that Mary was not assisting her in preparations for the meal, preferring to listen to the teachings of their guest. Jesus pointed out the importance of not being overly anxious with everyday cares, but looking to things of greater importance. The active character of Martha and the passive one of Mary are again in evidence after the death of Lazarus.
Mary and Martha were sisters mentioned only in Luke's Gospel and John's Gospel. The two authors saw the sisters quite differently, so it is possible to think they were not the same persons.
John wrote an important episode, in which Jesus visited the sisters, Mary and Martha, and resurrected their dead brother, Lazarus. The context shows the sisters and Lazarus to be well-to-do individuals.
Luke briefly mentioned Jesus as visiting Mary and Martha, who were sisters of clearly modest means who lived in a village. They were not referred to as being related to Lazarus, who was only mentioned later, in a parable about a poor beggar dying and going to heaven.
