I was sent a check and was told it was a promotional drawing for using my debit card at one of the above stores. Is this a scam?
Yes it is. If anyone has received a check from AIG or any other major insurance group, immediately report the information to your local authorities. I received a check, myself, and was skeptical. I went to the AIG homepage, looked under the sub-page Fraud Warning, and read through. they had examples posted of fraudulent checks, which i checked against the one I had, and everything matched up evenly. I then reported it to the authorities. Whatever you do, DO NOT CASH THE CHECK IN WHATSOEVER!!! IT IS A PHONY!
