Wars and battles have two sides. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, US General George Custer foolishly split his force into three columns; Custer's own column was annihilated when they were overwhelmed by superior numbers of Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne Indians. No American soldier survived, although one of the horses did.

The other two American units were engaged separately elsewhere on the battlefield, and suffered substantial casualties, but many did survive.
