September 11, 2001 fell on a Tuesday, so most children would have had school that day. Some schools may have decided to close early, and some ofthe ones on the west coast might have closed for the day (due to the time difference, it was still very early morning there when the attacks started unfolding so the kids hadn't even gone to school yet). Personally, I was in school when the attacks happened and they didn't close school. Some parents decided to pick their children up early, but the school still stayed open. However, they did close school the next day.
